‘Daniel Libeskind Interview: The Voices of a Site
- What is the ‘Voices of the Site’ affected by in Libeskind’s words? Explain his position in contrast with your position.
According to Daniel Libeskind architecture is not the building but the atmosphere itself, the story which is created and us being part of it. as he has also believed in not to have a path or goals and there must be a freedom in art in particular. as his experience and decisions made were way different to mine as i have always thought to have a goal which is very straightforward but in his case he has learnt a lot through not having goals.
- What is the meaning of a ‘door’ in Libeskind’s words? Explain his position compared to your prior perception.
According to libeskind door is not just a design but a communicator for humans as without designs like doors we would not be able to know where we are and what we are doing. as a door is not just a cut in a wall but it actually has to do with the overall organisation of the space.
- Select 2 of his projects in the interview and argue against with your design philosophy.
His architecture does not stay or build through the past but he actually believes that his architecture tells a story and was built through human energy which address the greater cultural context in which they are built.
